Resume:
I have gained translation experience from participating in voluntary projects and investing my time and efforts in educational pathways over the years.
I completed the MA in Translation Studies this year through The Open University. Previous to this I attended the University of Liverpool and obtained a 2:1 BA (Hons) degree in Hispanic Studies. This was an interdisciplinary degree course that covered Spanish and Portuguese translation to a high academic level.
As part of the Europass Training scheme I worked in Madrid as an English tutor through the Leonardo Da Vinci Student Mobility Programme. Daily tasks included the creation and translation of educational resources. I also wrote a Spanish language dissertation on an important social issue. All of my research was taken from a bilingual corpus, providing reflection and insight within an interlingual framework.
After obtaining my university qualification I worked as a temporary translator for a creative marketing agency. Tasks included translating web banners from English to Spanish and providing English translations of feedback taken from Spanish language forums. In addition to this I proofread and edited the market research that we had carried out.
In November 2017 I completed a course in 'Working with Translation: Theory and Practice' through Future Learn with Cardiff University. I also received a certificate of achievement in 'Proofreading and Copy Editing Level 2' through an online course with the Adams Academy. I continue to practice and research translation regularly, and I would like to use my translation skills as a volunteer to help provide a platform for global organisations and groups.
