Resume:
Dear hiring manager,

I’m writing to apply for the volunteer position at Translations for Progress. I’m looking forward to having this incredible opportunity to contribute my time and abilities to such a great organization.

During the last three years, I’ve been working as an ESL instructor in my home country, and I’ve also started to work as a translator this year. Until now, I have volunteered in subtitling platforms such as Amara and TEDx, and have contributed in a couple of videos so far.

I’m a native Brazilian Portuguese speaker and a Bachelor of Law, and during my college years, I’ve done my research on subjects such as political theory, constitutional law, social struggles (feminism, religious freedom, political harassment, ethnical conflicts, etc), and the ecological vulnerability of small farmers in Brazil.
Most of the researches were done in Spanish or English, which made me naturally start working as a translator.

While working as a legal assistant in a Public Defender office, I had the chance to work as head of a team of six interns, in which I had to proofread all the documents produced by them. Therefore, my language skills had to be on point. They still have, because as an educator, I need to keep learning both languages I communicate with my students.

With that said, by volunteering in this position, the platform will allow me to amplify my knowledge on relevant subjects, as well as develop my skills as a translator.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,
Gabriela Sá Souza.
