Resume:
I have been an English teacher for over 12 years. I have worked as a pedagogical coordinator at a language course for 2 years and nowadays, I am a bilingual pedagogical consultant for private schools. Furthermore, I am certified by Cambridge with the CELTA and TKT certification. I have plenty of experience in the nuances of English and Portuguese, as being an English educator is my career and my mother is a renowned Portuguese professor here in Brazil. So I was brought up very close to language learning. I possess a great range of vocabulary from my own personal and professional development over my years of work and studies, and am able to work with CAT tools to my assistance.
Being an English teacher and working in bilingual education has made me very aware of the importance of communication and the frustration when you desire to learn something, but you don't have it in your language. So my goal in translation is to provide people with the opportunity they otherwise wouldn't be able to have for not knowing the language or not being so good at it.
Apart from my background in education, I have been working as a translator for a little over 3 years now. I started out by translating some small papers from my colleagues from college in Law and from some other people who reached out to me in the medical, nutrition, business, finance and philosophy areas. I have also recently had the opportunity to translate part of a book about linguistics, which made me even more interested in translation, as it was quite a different challenge compared to my previous opportunities.
Furthermore, I have also provided some voluntary translation to some friends and organizations like Coursera. As an educator, I believe communication and comprehension go beyond one's need for compensation, so I am always willing to help non-profitable organizations.
I may be new, but I am not new to the world of translation. However, I make sure to always be humble and accept I always have much to learn. For that reason, I am also taking a course on translation to get even better in the field. I am sure I have plenty to offer and would be very glad if you would accept my assistance.
