Resume:
I have studied Arabic for over a decade, most recently as a fellow at the CASA program at the American University in Cairo, the world's premiere intensive Arabic program to support students already advanced in the language in reaching near-fluency. Through CASA, I received translation training. I also taught Arabic to university students and have 3 years of experience providing pro-bono translation for the Yale Interpretation Network, including case management documents for immigration and refugee services, information on accessing Covid-19 testing and vaccines for the Yale Hospital, and students surveys for New Haven Public Schools.
I am a native English speaker. I have also tested at Superior Proficiency in Arabic on the ACTFL exam (C1 on the CEFR). I'm very invested in using my language skills to make information about social services and other resources more available to native Arabic speakers / ESL communities.
